Body
The anterior parapods are fully separated. The two posterior parapods bear rows of claws. Procercus is present and only weakly sclerotized. Two pairs of anal tubules present (Wiederholm, 1983).

Antenna
The antenna consists of five segments. The blade is subequal to the flagellum. Lauterborn organs are conspicuous and the antennal ratio is appr. 1.5.
Mentum
The mentum has one broad median tooth and 5 pairs of lateral teeth. The ventromental plates are large and rounded laterally Chae dentiforc agg mentum.
Labrum
The pecten epipharyngis consists of three spines of different length. SI is serrate. The labral lamellae between the SI are small simpel scales Chaet dent labr pict and the premandible has two apical teeth (Wiederholm, 1983; Moller Pillot, 1984b).
Differential characteristics
The combination of the presence of labral lamellae Chae piger agg labrum and branched, plumose or serrated SI, 5 pairs of mentum teeth and large ventromental plates Chae piger agg mentum are distinctive for Chaetocladius.
C. dentiforceps agg. stands out in the genus by a mentum with a single median tooth and an AR appr. 1.5.
