Moller Pillot, 1984b
Body
The anterior parapods are fully separated. The two posterior parapods bear rows of claws. Procercus is weakly sklerotized. Two pairs of anal tubules present. Preserved larvae are at first purple stained and later they turn grey-green (Moller Pillot, 1984b).
Head
Head length apr. 0,4 mm (Moller Pillot, 1984b).
Antenna
The antenna consists of five segments. The blade is shorter than the flagellum. Lauterborn organs are conspicuous and the Antennal ratio is appr. 1,5 (Moller Pillot, 1984b).
Mentum
The mentum has one broad median tooth, with a streight apex and 5 pairs of lateral teeth. The ventromental plates are very large with a lateral projection covering the outer lateral teeth Chae sp Herkenbosch mentum.
Labrum
SI is branched. The labral lamellae between the SI are large simpel scales Chae sp Herkenbosch labrum9 and the premandible has two apical teeth ( Moller Pillot, 1984b).
Mandible
The mandible has 1 apical and 3 inner teeth (Moller Pillot, 1984b).
Differential characteristics
The combination of the presence of labral lamellae Chae piger agg labrum and branched, plumose or serrated SI, 5 pair of mentum teeth and large ventromental plates Chae piger agg mentum are distinctive for Chaetocladius.
Chaetocladius sp. Herkenbosch stands out in the genus by the shape of the mentum and ventromental plates.
