Body
Medium sized larvae with a length up to 8 mm. No fringe of swimming hairs.
Head
The head length is 0.65 - 0.75 mm with a cephalic index of 60 - 65.
Antenna
The antennal segments are all yellow and the antennal ratio is 2 - 3 (M = 2.68). The ring organ is situated at 0.45 - 0.55 of the height of the first segment. The second segment is normal and lacks a tuning fork.
Mentum
Dorsomentum without teeth.

Mandible
The mandible has a large basal tooth and a prominent accessory tooth Schineriella mandible pict
Maxilla
The maxilla is short with an undivided basal segment.
Anal tubules
4 anal tubules which are longer than wide.
Posterior parapods
All claws on posterior parapods are yellow. Two claws with a large inner tooth Schineriella claws pict.
Differential characteristics
Amongst the Pentaneurini only Schineriella has a completely yellow ligula Schineriella ligula pict and two claws with a large inner tooth on the posterior parapods Schineriella claws pict (specimens seen from one population only).
