Chaetocladius melaleucus

Body
The anterior parapods are fully separated. The two posterior parapods bear rows of claws. Procercus is brown and strongly scerotized. Two pairs of anal tubules present (Wiederholm, 1983 ).

Head
Antenna
The antenna consists of five segments. The blade is shorter than the flagellum. Lauterborn organs are conspicuous and the antennal ratio is appr. 1,5 Chae sp Veluwe antenna.
Mentum
The mentum has one broad median tooth, with a small medial depression and 5 pairs of lateral teeth. The ventromental plates are medium sized and rounded laterally Chae sp Veluwe mentum.
Labrum
The pecten epipharyngis consists of three spines of different length. SI is branched. The labral lamellae between the SI are small simpel scales Chaetocl melal lablam pict and the premandible has two apical teeth (Wiederholm, 1983; Moller Pillot, 1984b).
Mandible
The mandible has 1 apical and 3 inner teeth (Pinder and Armitage, 1985).

Differential characteristics
The combination of the presence of labral lamellae Chae piger agg labrum and branched, plumose or serrated SI, 5 pair of mentum teeth and large ventromental plates Chae piger agg mentum are distinctive for Chaetocladius.
C. melaleucus can be separated from the other Chaetocladius by a single median submental tooth, dome-shaped and projecting anteriorly Chae sp Veluwe mentum.
