Corynoneura c antennalis

Sensu Moller Pillot, 1984b

Body
Small larvae up to 3.5 mm long. Living larvae stained brown also after preservation The body is very slender. The 2nd and 3d thoracic segments are fused leaving only two thoracic segments. The anterior and posterior parapods are unusually long and both with crowns of claws. The posterior parapod bears a ventral spine Coryno antenn thorn post pp. Two pairs of anal tubules present (Wiederholm, 1983 ; Moller Pillot, 1984b ).

Head
The head length is 0.3 - 0.4 mm and very narrow (Moller Pillot, 1984b).
Antenna
The antenna is longer than the head, with 4 segments. The second and third segments are brown Coryno antenna (Moller Pillot, 1984b).
Mentum
The mentum with three median teeth and 5 pairs of lateral teeth. The central tooth is reduced and the first lateral tooth is slightly reduced Coryno antennalis mentum9.
Labrum
The pecten epipharyngis consists of three spines, SI is simpel and the premandible with up to 12 tiny teeth (Wiederholm, 1983).
Mandible
The mandible with a distal tooth and 4 inner teeth (Wiederholm, 1983).

Differential characteristics
The slender head with the unusually long antenna are distinctive Coryno antenna. Only Thienemanniella has a head of similar shape, but the antenna is only half the head length Antenna half headlength9. Heterotanytarsus also has antennae as long as the head but the headcapsule is much wider. Corynoneura cf-antennalis can be separated from the other Corynoneura by having a slightly reduced first lateral and a reduced central tooth of the mentum Coryno antennalis mentum9. The other taxa all have a different combination.
