(Walker, 1856)
Body
Large larvae with 1 pair of ventral tubules on segment 11 (Moller Pillot, 1995).
Head
Headcapsule shining. The frontoclypeal apotome and labral sclerite 2 present. Anterior margin of frontal apotome is convex without a subapical pit.
Antenna
The antenna consists of 5 segments. The blade is shorter than the flagellum. Lauterborn organs distally on the second segment.
Mentum
The mentum has one simpel, crenate median tooth Einf dissidens mentum median tooth and 6 pairs of lateral teeth. The ventromental plates as wide as the mentum.
Labrum
SI is plumose on both sides and labral lamellae with a central plate with many distal teeth. The pecten epipharyngis is a comb beset with small teeth op the surface as well Einf dissidens pecten epiph. The premandible has two apical teeth.
Mandible
The mandible with 2 adjacent dorsal teeth, apical tooth with 3 inner teeth, The pecten mandibularis is present and seta interna with 4 toothed and plumose branches (Wiederholm, 1983a).
Differential characteristics
The combination of 1 median mental tooth Einf dissidens mentum, frontal apotome convex, shining headcapsule, 3 inner mandibular teeth and Lauterborn organs present, separate Einfeldia and Fleuria from all other genera. Einfeldia lacks the small field of spinules between the base of the SI and the labral lamellae, present in Fleuria Fleuria labrum. Einfeldia pagana, with 3 median mental teeth can be separated from Chironomus by the apical pit on the frontal apotome Einf pagana frontoclypeus.
E. dissidens can be separated from E. carbonaria by the presence of ventral tubules on segment 11. E. dissidens differs from E. pagana by the form of the mentum with only 1 instead of 3 medial teeth.
