Kieffer, 1924
Body
Large larvae up to 13 mm long. Living larvae red. No lateral and ventral tubules (Wiederholm, 1983; Moller Pillot, 1984a).
Head
Anterior margin of frontal apotome is slightly convex without a subapical pit. Only labral sclerite 2 is present.
Antenna
The antenna consists of 5 segments. The blade is shorter than the flagellum. Lauterborn organs distally on the second segment.
Mentum
The mentum has one broad, crenate median tooth and 6 pairs of lateral teeth Fleuria mentum. The ventromental plates are as wide as the mentum.
Labrum
SI is plumose on both sides and labral lamellae a toothed plate. Between the base of the SI and the labral lamellae lies a field of short spinules Fleuria labrum 8. The pecten epipharyngis is single with about 30 teeth. The premandible is a comb with app. 15 teeth.
Mandible
The mandible with two adjacent dorsal teeth, apical tooth with 3 inner teeth, The pecten mandibularis is present and seta interna with 4 plumose branches.
Differential characteristics
The combination of 1 median mental tooth, frontal apotome convex, shining headcapsule, 3 inner mandibular teeth and Lauterborn organs present, separate Einfeldia and Fleuria from all other genera. Einfeldia lacks the small field of spinules between the base of the SI and the labral lamellae, present in Fleuria Fleuria labrum 8.
