(Meigen, 1830). Description of the larva (sub Paratendipes intermedius) by Chernovskij (1961).
Body
Small sized larvae 5 mm long. Living larvae deep red. No lateral and ventral tubules (Chernovskij, 1961; Wiederholm, 1983).
Head
The very narrow head with one small single eye.
Antenna
The antenna consists of 6 segments. The blade is shorter than the flagellum. Lauterborn organs alternate on the second and third segment.
Mentum
The mentum has 4 median teeth and 6 pairs of lateral teeth. The median teeth are equally sized and larger than the first lateral. The ventromental plates are very large Paratend intermedius mentum9 (Chernovskij, 1961).
Differential characteristics
Paratendipes, Omisus and Stictochironomus have 4 median mental teeth and alternating Lauterborn organs. The middle pairs of mental teeth in Omisus Omisus mentum and Stictochironomus Sticto mentum normal is smaller than the outer pairs. In Paratendipes the middle pairs is equal to or larger than the outer pairs Paratend albi mentum9.
P. nubilus can be separated from the other Paratendipes by the large ventromental plates and the 4 median mental teeth equal and larger than the 1st lateral.
