Body
Small to medium sized larvae up to 5 mm long. The posterior parapods bear simpel claws. Some anal setae are bifid or weakly plumose. The larvae live in a transportable case Stempellina tube (Wiederholm, 1983).
Head
The S3 is simpel.
Antenna
The antenna stands on a prominent pedestal with a large apical projection and a palmate process and consists of 5 segments Neostempellina ant.
Mentum
The mentum has a simpel median tooth and 6 pairs of lateral teeth. The ventromental plates are wide apart and are not as wide as the mentum Neostemp mentum.
Labrum
SI is a comb and labral lamellae a single plate with numerous apical teeth. The pecten epipharyngis consists of 3 slender pointed scales. The premandible has 5 teeth.
Mandible
The mandible with a pale dorsal tooth, apical tooth and 2 inner teeth. The pecten mandibularis is present and seta interna with branches.
Differential characteristics
The antennal pedestal with a palmate and pointed distal projection is distinctive Neostempellina ant. The related genera Constempellina and Stempellina have a pedestal with only the distal projection (Constempellina Constemp brevicosta antenna) or only the palmate process (Stempellina Stempellina antenna).
